The fundraising campaign has surpassed $2.45 million USD. At $2.5 million, they'll be adding barbarians and ciphers to the class variety. There's also a New Backer Goal (no donation required) - 20K Likes for Obsidian on Facebook adds another level to the Mega Dungeon.

Not even $300 million will make this game good.

Hit me with your wisdom, Max. I'm interested to see why you think that. I'd say its at least worth giving Obsidian the benefit of the doubt before we write it off.

Cliched over-used fantasy setting and rehashed boring real-time party based gameplay we've seen a million times already and always sucked or was passable at best. The story *might* be good, but they will run out of money for paying their employees before a vast backstory can be fleshed out and realized in a 50 hour game or whatever they are promising. Obsidian is simultaneously pandering to the Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment fans when anybody with common sense can see they will never deliver on a fraction of these expectations.

Best case scenario they make an OK budget title. Realistically, they will deliver a hardly realized RPG with the clunkiest gameplay and most disjointed story since Lionheart. That's what this reminds me of. Lionheart. The hype is the same. The fan expectations the same. They might as well call it Lionheart 2.

Yeah I can't figure out why they're going after the Baldur's Gate crowd when those were Bioware games. If anything they should just be sticking to fans of Icewind Dale or Planescape. You know, mainly just classic Black Isle titles. Maybel Temple of Elemental Evil, but not Bioware titles. That'd be like saying they want the KOTOR audience.

Maybe because Baldur outsold those 2? But then, what kind of rationale is that for your one Kickstarter project? You'd think they'd go for clout rather than straight profit.

Anywho, "Cliched over-used fantasy setting" I can live with*, so long as (and I'm reasonably reassured this won't have the Bioware, "15-y.o. fanfic" feel) it's decent writing; it's the real-time that gets me. I dunno, maybe this is a Fallout fan thing but I struggle to think of one example of that sort of gameplay I'd hold up as something good.

*Actually, fuck that, I'm up to my ears with dwarves and elves and all that shite

Sitting on a toilet with wicked heartburn at 4am is more exciting than Dragon Age 3.

I was really hoping that they would do something like a Steampunk Spiritual successor to Arcanum but no instead we get generic fantasy shit, so I didn't donate.

Fucking cunts.

Oh well Wasteland 2 may pull through but only if Brian pays closer attention to harsh critique. :drunk:

Heard a rumor that Fargo is getting in cahoots with EA. They're helping him distribute it or its going to be on Origin or something.

Not happy about that.

Yeah, he said it would be on Origin. I think that's idiotic, but I am a bit biased when it comes to Steam.
