Good point Ausir, I forgot how shitty and tiny the Fo3 weapon pool was. Whilst it wasn't that huge in Fallout 1/2 either (specially 1), in two you at least had several different miniguns, etc.

Given the reintroduction of Damage Threshold, Guns skill weapons will generally have higher DPS but lower DAM, while Explosives will have lower DPS but higher DAM. Energy weapons might be on average stronger than either of them, but will be harder to get and to repair.

God dammit. Every single picture of this game has been ... just outstandingly flat and ugly.

These look like Playstation 2 screens.

When the first pics surfaced I thought "well that's odd, when Bethesda released their first images of Fallout 3, they had already added the 16 extra layers of grit, grunge, and detail..."

Now I really get it. Fallout: New Vegas has terrible graphics. What a damn shame. Say what you will about Fallout 3 but the graphical detail - from the weapons to the bent tin can on the ground - was astonishing, for the most part.

New Vegas is looking sub-par for a console game of the previous generation. This is really unacceptable given the engine from whence it came. How could it decompose to this extent? I mean, good god.. what an utter disappointment.

I agree, I'm just hoping that the rest of the game is good.

Yes ... you see in the deconstructed desert areas of post-apocalyptia the metal hand rails are not just intact but polished by ... what? What the fuck is going on in development ... ? Obsidian?!

This makes me ill. There is nothing to this design whatsoever. The floor is spotless for god sakes. But the stools are ... rusted? The blackjack tables consist of blocks of primary colors (to just look at the ridiculously simple wood 'blocks' that hold them up...). This is undefined, uninspired, pixelated nonsense. I just don't understand how the graphics could be so plain.

Probably because Bethesda gave them all of 5 weeks of development time before they decided to go to the media.

Is the game even in alpha stages of development?

Ausir probably knows the exact timeframe, but I believe I remember reading in one of the interview/preview things that they began development after the last DLC was released maybe.

That's what MCA said in one interview, but he was mistaken. New Vegas was announced long before the last DLC, let alone started. They actually started making it early last year.

Not really.

Regardless, I'd rather have better gameplay, writing, mechanics, quests, etc. than graphics right now. Hopefully the next Fallout game will shock and awe us with pretty things.

Like dynamic, interesting and rewarding quests?

Or a well-written plot?

Neither. I think we all know what the problem with F3 was:

The explosions weren't big enough. Let's hope Obshittian can make explosions so big we can't help but fall in love with the game.
