Brilliant...just brilliant!

I figure I might as well post something I conjured up in MS Paint while I was smoking a lot of pot.

This is something I did in MS Paint a while back making fun of executives at Interplay being boozers.

By the way, neat avatar, Franz.

you can in theory get to the same results in MSpaint with the BMP format as in any other "advanced" graphic program, but doing photorealistic art in MSPaint is just harder then in photoshop, but still you can, as you have control over every pixel.

so it should be no chock that people make neat stuff in it.

Well yeah, but like you said - it's a lot harder.
If two guys make identical paintings, the other one with the normal colors & brushes and stuff and the other one with a piece of a match and a bucket of bullshit, I sure appriciate the latter one much much more.

the result is all that matters ;)

...but actually if the picture gains nothing from it, if the result is exactly the same - only the craft is diffrent from picture to picture - I must say that I - myself, and me - respect the fast creator more then the tedious month long worker, that is if the results are the same.

now I would respect the pure bluntness and idiocy of the later.

Agreed. If the dumb cunt paints a picture using bull shit and a matchstick when he could've used the usual tools to achieve exactly the same result, it's not admirable, just plain idiocy, or some kind of a sick obsession. If the working methods add something new and/or interesting to the end result then by all means use it, but if it doesn't and there's an easier way I don't really see the point of it (unless he/she wants to impress explicitly you)

The end result isn't all that matters to the artist. It's just all that matters to the ignorant consumer, you.

Van Gogh made about 20 different paintings of a sunflower, then he cut his ear off. Let's just say artists have been *known* for their sick obsessions.

You kinda misunderstood me... I meant, that making an identical picture with MSPaint as with Photoshop takes more skill, because in the other deal you have much more advanced software to help your work.

I didn't mean that everyone using MSPaint is a fucking genious or anything, simply that if you manage to do good-looking stuff in it, it's pretty cool, because I can barely make decent circles & squares in it.

It's just different software, like drawing a picture with a pen or a pencil. Though stuff in MS Paint has a different style than photoshop?

I don't really care, so long as the picture looks good. If an artist cares more for the method than the final result his picture will probably suck.

Yes - like drawing a picture with

That was the point. Bleh, who cares? They look good no matter what.

Drawing shit in MS Paint has its own style (everything is aliased and therefore looks cool, in my opinion).

I'm not drawing in MS Paint to prove a point. I'm drawing in MS Paint because it's simpler than Photoshop and it's fun to take a break from all the bells and whistles every now and then.
