Multiplayer FO:T and Gamespy

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Multiplayer FO:T and Gamespy

Does this game require you to have Gamespy installed? My friend tried to connect to my game and while it showed up in his browser, it was greyed out. He does not have gamespy installed. Thanks.

I think Gamespy only needs to be installed when connected to the Gamespy server. I did try to connect my two machines in a game with a direct connection and was unable to do this without Gamespy installed though. I haven't tried it again with Gamespy so I am not 100% sure.

I'm pretty sure that microforte/14degrees was chained to gamespy from the beginning to allow it to handle its internet capabilities. Pretty much, only gamespy will work for the internet. tcp/icp (lan) might work without gamespy, but you would both have to be on the same network, etc..
