dose reputation effect rank or anything else?

last night i discovered im the sword of despair

and i dunno y...

ok so i offed the merchan guy with a psycho OD to steal his stuff, but i checked my rep right after,no change,i was still a good guy

i think i might be because some random encounter with like civilians vs dogs or something where a burst or nade from my squad killed civvie

but i dunno for sure

btw, did u all know sometimes dead civilians have that neostead shotgun on them?

and lotsa shells, once i found 70 shotgun shells on a civvie corps

can be real usefull early on in the game

So where were you lost all this time Jaws II?

I can't remember anything of the things you said, a long time I haven't played the core campaign. Try the custom missions when you finish, there are really good ones out there.

It changes the ending. And rank limits who you can get. Me I like becoming a general ASAP so that I can get Clarise.

Its something like everybody is happy. And you don't really prepare as much for attacking the new BOS. I haven't played in a long time, but when I get my new comp soon, that will all change.

not rank, but watch out who you kill. killing BOS ppl will reduce your rank.

Not instantly >:) I've had some pretty sweet gun battles to the death against hoards of BOS troops, course it all ends after my medic buys it.

yup - reputation is a real funny thing in FOT - you can be shield of hope or savior of the wastes and what not, but it all changes in kansas city where you have to defend those moronic ghouls.
It is nearly impossiple (I never done it) to prevent any ghoul from being killed by super mutants.
So, my stats for Kansas city so far is about 4 dead ghouls and deafcon 4 (son of t-minus, heh! I think that passage is funny) praises me saying I did a good job - but still your (my at the very least) karma will suffer greatly. I went from "shield of hope" to "warrior" - that's a fair bit of karma drop i should say.
Anybody who has stumbled across this problem before??

The reputation levels are IIRC,
  • Savior of the Wasteland, 1001 reputation points
Guardian of the Wastes, 601 reputation points
Shield of Hope, 301 reputation points
    Defender, 101 reputation points
    Warrior, 0 reputation points
    Betrayer, - 101 reputation points
Sword of Despair, - 301 reputation points
Scourge of the Wastes, - 601 reputation points
Demon Spawn, - 1000 reputation points
I think all missions have a trigger that will give a bonus or penalty of a 100 reputation points, for instance in Brahmin Wood if any Tribal dies you lose 100 points right away, but if you complete the mission with no Tribal losses you get 100 points. In the second mission Freeport you get a bonus for freeing Ripley the prisoner and a penalty for leaving her locked up. Likewise in Rock Falls there's a bonus/penalty tied to freeing Nanuk. In Kansas City if you complete the mission with less than 7 Ghoul deaths you'll get a 100 point bonus, if more than 7 Ghouls die you lose 100 reputation points. I can't remember at the moment what penalty you get for killing a neutral or friendly.

Edit I think if I can read my notes right it's a 100 point penalty every time you accidently kill a neutral/friendly.

ive done the mission without any ghouls dying before...and they were all nearly dead, especially my guys, i kept them up front (wayy front) and they got slaughtered, 3 of them were bandaged too much and the others had other problems like blindness, or winded....this was on hard though.
i once dropped from savior of the wasteland to sword of despair....it was my fault, i killed the wrong people.

wow... that's it? i managed to nerf a whole bunker, the hard way, no drug ODS. well i used the hummer and drove around really carefully so i wouldnt' get stuck. but when i tried to leave to nerf another bunker, i got cast out from teh brotherhood, or some shit like that... lameo......

anyways whenever i'm about done with the game and need to go, i always save then nerf everyone on the map, fun as hell and good practice for positioning, etc.

the ghouls mission, what difficulty were you at? insane is impossible to save them all, but anything else, BIG GUNS AND GRENADES. surprisingly, this is the only time where grenades are effective. basically any form of explosive is good, but grenades are most plentiful at this point in the game. also, cheat a bit and use some stims or meds on the ghouls, if they're about dead ;).
