Couple new screenshots and some info from Bethblog

<strong>[ Game -> Article ]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bethesda Softworks">Company: Bethesda Softworks</a> | More info on <a href="http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout: New Vegas">Game: Fallout: New Vegas</a>

<p>A newish post over at Bethesda's Blog is pretty much trying to sell you on the Prima Guide for New Vegas. Sorta iffy as interesting news in and of itself, but a few things leak around the edges. Mentions of a Reloading Bench and skinning and tanning hides certainly cought my eye.</p>
<p>The article also has two screenshots I haven't seen previously. The first seems to support the return of classic Enclave armor, though it looks like a FO3 tesla style variant. The second features a dealer wearing a porcelain mask.Okay then.Check out the article <a href="http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/09/1 ... re</a>.</p>

The rifle is the only one of those assets from Fallout 3.

The rifle was from operation Anchorage, it's their version of the gauss rifle.
The engine has always done relatively well with weapons and locations, people it's sorta eh on.

Most armors look fine too, power armors though always have severe chunkiness going on. I doesn't look worse then FO3, but I REALLY feel this should be the swan song for the engine in it's current configuration. It's aging rapidly now.

I AM personally pleased to see the return of classic Enclave armor. The tesla variant here is a bit eh, and that helmet that guy is wearing borders on the retarded, but It's better then what the enclave was sporting in FO3.

And also, a slight aside I thought it best to keep out of the post itself. My first post as parts of the news crew here:) They got tired of posting crap up for me, so made me part of the news crew and sorta gave me a shove and said "You do it".

Agreed. The halfway-point between FO2 Adv PA and FO:T Adv PA didn't turn out well or convey the same aesthetic message that FO2's did.

A semi-auto Gauss variant, rather than single-shot, would be a preferable add-on, though. That, and the original plasma rifle designs (FO1-2 and Tactics as a chopped-up version of it). Also, while the stats may be a big clusterfuck at this point, more variation on Big Guns would be appreciated (like multiple minigun models, or the inclusion of both a modern Rocket Launcher and the RPG-7).

More weapons with unique effects would be interesting as well: things like tazers, which inflict little-to-no damage but leave the target seizuring on the floor, or Microwave weapons, which make the target or target's head expand until meaty explosion, or Acidic Weapons, which not only cause slow, constant damage, but eat away at a target's armor, allowing for more crits. What about gas grenades, which could have a variety of different effects? What about effective freezing or napalm weapons (like an aesthetically-correct Flamer, rather than a WWII bunker burner)? What about stealth/suppressed /sedative weapons? What about a mass-variety of melee and unarmed weapons with occasional alternative effects?

What about weapon training and proficiency, when extended use of a specific weapon rewards stat bonuses for continuing to use the same weapon? What about differing ammo types and varying levels of effectiveness with use against different enemy types? What about radical changes in-game that deeply affect the way gameplay or combat works (ie genetic experiment = hands become claws, health regeneration improves dramatically, player runs incredibly fast, but can no longer use ranged weapons outside of thrown grenades, speech and repair penalties)?

How many characters will be truly iconic, other than those that have already been established as so? How many plot or random encounter events in-game will be so powerful or humorous that they leave the player thinking about it for hours?

What sets this apart from Oblivion?

Well, the fanboys will probably congeal around the worship of Felicia Day's character, it remains to be seen if that will be warranted, but the unstable grandma supermutant and danny trejo as a ghoul pistolero certainly have potential to be memorable.

Seeing pics of gambling make me want to roll my eyes but I don't. Either way gambling in games is fuckin stupid it should be just a skill that you press a button to get money or not I don't want to play stupid card games when I can play a video game.

That explains my lack of memory. Never bothered with any of the expansions was actually quite pissed that I beat the original on hard extremely easily and couldn't fuck around after the main story was beaten. Leave it to Bethesda to keep in any feature I do not want and erase the halfway decent ones of their previous titles.

Agreed with the above post.

Well if your major gripe was how easy FO3 was, the hardcore mode in Vegas would probably appeal, what with the need to eat, drink, and ammo having weight among the usual difficulty multiplier of OMG MORE HEALTH FOR BADGUYS!
