I'm definitely interested...the book has always been on my "to read" list, but never got around to it. I tend to enjoy the dystopian future movies, so bring it on.

I'm very worried about this (potential) film. Too much censorship nowadays, it won't capture the true essence of the novel. I'm also very surprised that DiCaprio would want to sign on this deal, seeing how most celebrities are in support of things like stem cell research which is exactly what Brave New World warns us about.

I don't really see it as that shocking or against the grain to be censored. The Island? The concept of pleasure over-riding society over pain (COMIC) is more accessible and woo spooky creepy. Not like cinema or any art has veered away from the spooky creepy, 1984 would be deemed more negative. The books good and read it, deffo. The first chapter is a bit of a slog, but it flows a lot easier after. Liked it better than ol' 84. Havent read other huxley but would like to, get him mixed up sometimes.

Anyway, the movie isnt to hard to transmit into film. Doubt Leonard would play the role of magical tribe man though, perhaps more focus on setting up the world rather than the middle and end of the book (45 minutes and so on?)

Okay so maybe not TOO much censorship, but just enough to possibly not capture the universe the novel creates.

They'll just make it about global warming, like what they did when they hatefucked The Day the Earth Stood Still.

what's so funny?

On topic, the film could actually be decent. Hopefully it won't be a clusterfuck like all the new wannabe dystopian shit Hollywood threw out lately like The Island or Equilibrium.

Scott did Blade Runner, I'd say that's a plus.

the word 'nowadays' was funny, for everyone's information

Oh and I actually kinda liked Equilibrium. Not a masterpiece but a nice watch. Well maybe apart from the combat scenes D:

I hope not, especially that global warming had absolutely nothing to do with book (considering that when the novel was written that theory hadn't even been conceived).
