No death?

One of the best things I remember from Fallout was the death screen, where the guy says that not even the carrion crows will touch your radiated corpse... or something like that.

Today I died and the screen came up, but only for a couple seconds and no voice over played. What's that about?

That's one of the possible outcomes when you die. Silence. Get it?

Oh, maybe I phrased my complaint wrong... it doesn't happen once in a while. It happens all the time. No voice over ever.

I miss my voice over!

Turn down the sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag.

No, official copy, made by interplay.

I'll try the dxdiag thing.

EDIT: or er... wait, what's the dxdiag? How do I get there? i'm not used to working with PCs.

Go to the Start menu and select run. In the text field type dxdiag. It is the diagnostic tool for whatever DirectX version you are running. It mostly shows information. Personally I would go to the sound card settings from Control Panel and turn off acceleration.

Thank you! I'll see if that works.

Hey guys I've been (believe it or not) too busy playing Fallout to get back on this site, but I thought I'd say that the Direct X thing solved the problem. Thanks!

All critters deserve a shotgun castration.
