Gifted is so overpowered that it feels almost like cheating :cat:

Oh hell, I always get IN to 10 from the start. Granted I gut charisma and luck, but neither are important in Fallout 1.
My build is:
Strength: 10
Perception: 2
Endurance: 10\8
Charisma: 2
Intelligence: 10
Agility: 10
Luck: 2
Feats:
Gifted\heavy handed
Fast Shot

This will let you beat the unholy shit out of anything but the Overseer. But he's invincible.

most of these builds are crap, especially for FO2.

Mid - to endgame, CH is the most powerful primary stat in the game when it comes to combat, since your npc's become just as hard-hitting as the pc. Marcus with a laser rifle, Skynet with one of the better small guns and Sulik with an SMG, will do a helluva lotta damage.

I just use Vic and Cassidy. Give one guass rifle (usually Vic, since he has lower small guns) and the other a guass pistol until you can spare a rifle.

And I can beat the game without NPCs, and without any real problem either. I have stopped uisng them as a crutch, and usually only do their quests for the EXP if I need it.

of course you can, nothing special about that. it's just easier (more firepower), more entertaining (funny textoverheadswhatchamacallit) and more practical (for looting and carrying in dungeons and whatnot) to let them tag along.

I prefer to sneak n' stab on my own. I have pretty much evolved into a single party member in Fallout, since Ian either blows me to chunks in the early game or gets extra crispy in Necropolis. Same for Katja, and Tycho to a lesser extent.

I never give Ian anything but a pistol. I like going solo because I don't have to wait for my allies to finish moving. They help when fighting the tougher enemies early in the game, though.

Anyways, my char usually goes something like:
STR-5
PER-8
END-4
CHA-4
INT-8
AGI-6 (with fast shot this means 2 shots a turn)
LUC-5
-
Small Arms
Energy Weapons
Lockpick
-
Good Natured
Fast Shot

Using Gifted really is just a crutch.

You don't *HAVE TO* take traits, you know that, right?

FO
Fast Shot, Gifted
Use upgraded PlasmaRifle or Rocketlauncher/Minigun

Stats like
ST 3-5
PE 6-8
EN 2-4
CH 4-7
IN 8-9
AG 8-10

same for FO2, except use Bozar and kill everything :salute:

Bloody mess is always a good choice when you don't know what to pick, especially in Fallout 1.

Except it makes killing things boring about 3-4 times faster.
I miss the good ol' USSA.

ya, it more satisifying if you get a bloody kill only once in awhile so you can cherish it more. Bloody mess is defiantly fun to pick once in awhile though.

good natured is good, so is small frame (the extra agility point can of course be converted to anything else).

Small Frame sucks. You are getting +1 AGI for what amounts to -2 STR. Just take 1 off your STR stat.

That's just dumb. You're getting +1 of any Primary, and losing something you don't need.

I'm playing a ST4, AG10 character now, and I've just reached the Den. I collect EVERYTHING, and still carrying capacity is not an issue.

Post by Kashluk »

Yeah, Small Frame is way better than Bruiser for example. It gives you +1 attribute at the cost of carrying capacity, while bruiser gives +1 or +2 I don't remember at the cost of Action Points, which really sucks. You can never have too much action points.

Critical shot focus + aimed shots just rule for me.
Shoot and cripple the right hand of people shooting at you.
Shoot the legs and cripple them / cause to fall critters that are trying to run up to you.
Shoot the eyes of those already crippled / lying to get a really bad, finishing critical shot.
Oh yeah.

BTW do you get all those funny comments connected with shooting particular body parts, when you don't use aimed shot?
