Re: Help keep DAC online
I forgot to mention to leave your username in donation notes, so that I know who to credit. We've got the first donation in, $25 out of $150 needed, thanks! Who do I credit?
Edit: Thanks, SenisterDenister!

Re: Help keep DAC online
Don't worry about it.
Re: Help keep DAC online
Is there a way we could keep Dac going for the next 100 years? OR perhaps end it when the lore said the nuke war starts? It would be poetic and nerdy as fuck.
Re: Help keep DAC online
Realistically, it'll remain online for as long as someone's renewing the domain and paying for the hosting.

So I guess nobody wants to keep DAC online any more, huh?

Re: Help keep DAC online
didn't you raise like a grand 3 years ago, just thinking that if it's that expensive and/or involved to keep a forum with about 5 users up then yeah probably not worth it, thanks for putting in the effort and keeping the lights on this long anyway :salute:

Re: Help keep DAC online
What happened to all that cash last time mr admin
Re: Help keep DAC online
No, that grand was for the conversion off phpBB2, not the domain for X years in advance. We're now on phpBB3 (part of the money was used for that conversion), the next step is to convert it to XF2. I wanted to do that last year, but then shit happened (my house got flooded) and it's delayed me a lot again. However, I've finally managed to clear my schedule a bit, so I'm planning on getting a test import to XF2 done this month.
I didn't run off with the money, I'm still here, no worries.

Re: Help keep DAC online
Actually, I read through that whole thread and Stainless sent in extra $500 in 2020 (page #5) and I wrote at that point that I'll use the extra money towards XenForo licence renewal costs and the domain renewals. I've forgotten about that, my bad. I did buy the XF licence already back then, I just haven't renewed the domain at the time because the registrar we were using back then was defunct and it's taken me ages to manage to transfer the domain again to a different registrar.
So, I've corrected that oversight now and renewed the domain until 2030.
Edit: Make that 2029 -- this silly cx domain can only be renewed up to 5 years in advance apparently, so even though it let me choose 2030, it then refunded me for the last year. Normally domains can be renewed up to 10 years in advance.
