OK, so HL2 is right around the corner blah blah blah....

Can't decide between ATI Radeon x800 Pro or nVidia 6800 GT.

Which one and why?
This sentence has thirty-two letters.

I suppose it's going to be an AGP-card, right? X800 Pro and 6800 GT cost pretty much the same and I've heard more good about this new 6800-series, so I could recommend that.

On the other hand, if you were getting a PCI-Express-card, I'd have to suggest the X800 XT, which pretty much PWNZ.

Dodge the Nvidia like FR dodges grammer. It's a piece of shit and gave me nothing but hassles.

Radeon for the win!

And HIS makes some pretty damn fine Radeon cards.

I liked the nVidia TNT2, and nVidia is compatible with a lot of games. I'd go with that one, but I know fuck-all about video cards.

I've got personal experience on Riva TNT2, GeForce2, Geforce4 and X800 XT myself and the only one I've been disappointed in is the GF2-card. NVidia's done pretty well for me.

If you're not stupid, any card worth 300$+ will be fine. There's only wacky people to have problems running a game with a Radeon 9800. Either that or you have some really shitty underground hardware.

The computer I'm building is going to have the 6800 Ultra. That's the $500 one.

Nvidia tends to be the one with fewer hassles. Raedon seems to prefer churning out more kinds of cards. It seems to be more like a question similar to the Pentium vs Athlon debate.
Just a thought....

Radeon is the best choice to go with. The 6800 GT sucks on power like Herve Caen sucks on sphincter.

And Half-Life 2 is primed for Radeon cards because of the Catalyst drivers, so w1n for ATi.

Actually most people don't seem to be able to use that coupon... some say it's a scam =/

That's what I just said : Only the ATI Radeons came along with a coupon, not the Sapphire, HIS, Powercolor, Asus, etc.

Yeah, like I have a PowerColor Radeon 9600. She does me well enough for games like Doom 3, and Half-Life 2, which I am currently installing as we speak.
