The role of an Administrator

Make dumb suggestions so we can ignore them. I'm lovin' it.

The role of an Administrator

Post by Franz Schubert »

It's my opinion that it is a forum administrator's duty and responsibility to help make the forum better and more enjoyable for everyone who posts there. Obviously it's impossible to please everyone all the time, but when an administrator is consistantly going against the general will of the people, and stirring up an undue amount of strife, it is time for him to step down. Teatime, you're a hell of a news poster, but you simply micro-manage too much to Administrate here...

well, DAC would probably be pretty dead without them, so I'm not complaining :)

I'm just saying he should adopt a more Lassez-Faire approach to Administrating. Or resign and give MMRW or Lark or JJ86 the job again. Or obtain compromising pictures of SP and blackmail him into coming back here and assuming command.

Guess you'll have to deal with it.

My thoughts are that most of the admins and mods, including myself, are doing a good job with DAC. I also think the majority of people here agree, though feel free to prove me wrong.

YOU'RE WRONG

laissex fare. not a dictatorchip. Admins shouldn't get involved in drama. You're just not configured for not caring, like every other admin.

I can't think of many other people who'd want/would do a good job of it though, so beggars can't be choosers.

I don't think the 'not caring' thing is a good thing, when it comes to some issues. Most threads we leave to run their course, but, for instance the recent JJ86 thing, I don't find acceptable and if it happened again I'd take the same action. So, like I said, people who don't like it will have to deal with it.

King, myself, Dark Underlord, and a few others came along to help restore/remake DAC so it was working again, some people at Saint's request, some people at mine, and I think we're all doing pretty well, to be honest. Can't please everyone, of course.

I think Teatime is doing a pretty good job, but I worry he's gonna burn out soon.

Hopefully not. anyway it's not just me, king is an admin as well, saint occasionally stops by... but we need a new admin anyway, since jj86 has gone.

Good luck finding a new Admin... most people want the power of a mod, but not the responsibility of an Admin.

At the moment JJ is not being re-admined. Abusing his powers the way he did is really not on and as far as I'/m concerned it means he might do it again when the whim takes him. So he's out of the quesiton.

If you want to be an admin or have a suggestion for someone (this offer is open to everyone), PM myself or King and we'll think about it...

Meh... so we can PM you about Admin positions, but PMing about a mod position is not allowed?

Nah, pm'ing about any position is allowed. It's the posting of threads and stuff like that which is not.

I think Teatime and KoC are doing great jobs..Some of the other NMAer-cum-DACer that need to start taking notes from them.

Also, I like Doc Hill...But he's been around forever and has never done anything annoying to me.

Teatime has done a great job with news and whatnot, and I don't know what KoC is responsibile for, but things have been pretty good and more than flexible with them around here. Berserk admins aside, things are good. More pressure needs to be on the mods, not the admins.

Atoga for admin? D:
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
