whould be rather nice.
With a penalty to the to hit chance.
So that one, after haveing been knocked down, could stay lieing, and shoot if you think you could take your foes out while down.
Offcourse remaining down would make you easier for the enemy to hit.

This way one could remain lieing, not wasting AP's for rising up. yes, in this suggestion I am counting on a turnbased fallout3.
otherwise there really is no point of makeing one, now is it.

Laying down makes you *harder* to hit. They can't see as much of you laying down. And as for shooting laying down? Much easier than standing or crouching. You don't have to waste energy holding the rifle up to your shoulder. More accurate too.

He means shooting after being knocked to the ground, not going into the prone position. It seems to be an interesting idea. Doable too.

So basically it would be exactly the same as in FOT. No problemo to implement, I think.

well i did like it as in jagged alliance, did you know some fans made a new game out of ja2?
well it was kind of the same, different weapons ,lot more heavy going and such, but the map was still the same. if i recall it right they called it wildfire, they sold it for muchos dineros, i really enjoyed that game

If you can shoot laying on the ground, what's the point of getting blown to the ground by a shotgun? Wasn't the whole point of being knocked to the ground is to be incapitated?

Simply put, I say Fallout is real enough. No one needs pointless little gameplay alterations. "WOW!!! TEH VAULT DWELLERZ 2.0 CAN GET FAAAT!" or "SHOOT SUPAH MUTANTS ON TEH GROUND!"

This is too random.. too small and vague. Discuss the important things, save this minutia for when you run out of major gameplay features to argue about.

and you are harder to hit and shoot better when lying down... it's actually a nice idea, because moving around is slower, so that should be the drawback for a prone position :)

But why fix what ain't broken?

It is neither broken nor implemented, we just wan't to shoot while lieing down.

But dude, standing up works perfectly fine. I don't want mindless tactical abilities, I am fairly happy with Fallout's combats system as it is.

good point, sometimes simplicity is mor fun than having to do a million things at once.

Bit of an oxymoron ? There is usually room for improvement, however there are more valid topics of discussion at this stage, when (from what is known to me) we are so far uninformed of significant decisions regarding Fallout 3's basic game mechanics, for example. :drunk:

*points at blargh* What the cactus said.

Just incase Bethseda care what the fan community think, perhaps we should have firm ideas of what we want on the major side of fallout, rather than tiny little random ideas like firing a gun while half dead on the floor...

Besides which, that is just too 'combatty' for fallout to my mind... in an action game where fluid animations and combat moves are the focus, yes, but that sort of thing doesn't belong in an RPG. It sounds like i'm against progress, but there are far more important things to focus on, like the style, the graphics (not how pretty they are, but how fallout they are.), the dialogue, and the proper implementation of the SPECIAL system.

Implementing a system where you can crawl and shoot while lying a la FOT probably wouldn't be too hard.
