I never liked Metroid. I found it rather sucky-sucky five dollah.

WWF Royal Rumble, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Super Mario I-III and Chrono Trigger on the other hand...

Super Metroid on the SNES is one of the best games I've ever played. Metroid: Zero Mission for the GBA is excellent as well. It's a "retelling" of the original game with updated gameplay and graphics.

See lunchmeat has the right idea so far metroid is just one of those games that comes along and kick other shitty games ass like Road Kill or FOBOS. Games like metroid don't even need to have badass graphics because playability and awesome storyline make a better game than some POS guns, glam, and glitter game like True Crime Streets of LA.
Graphics do one thing to Metroid and all they do is make it even cooler.
