Hi, ive been out of the loop for a while, and have just started up again.

About 6 months ago someone was working on an advanced version of spray which allows importing character sprites, just wondering if its been completed yet?

Nope. The current version of Spray is 1.1, and only allows for modifying sprites of weapons and objects.

A guy I have been in contact was working on it for awhile and may get started again. He is having some problems getting the code to work in Visual Basic I believe. At the very least he was going to convert it and add bitmap support. Domin originally programmed it in Delphi 3 which may not be the best language to write code in. If anyone knows shit about programming I can send them the source code to Spray.

I updated Red!Viewer a bit albeit nothing to work with sprites (let's hope "yet"). I send the sources of a few versions back to a certain Dak, and emailed him to ask him wether he wanted the updates (I added PNG loading support in later hopes to use it to convert to other formats).

I never got any kind of reply from him since.

I'm currently too tied up in small contracts to dedicate much time to it.

Dak is the guy I have been in touch with and I did get in touch with him last week. He was out of country for awhile and is getting back to working on it albeit with some difficulties.
