Environmental Protection Agency. It was going to be a SAD-esque location, essentially the ruins of a huge government office full of fancy high tech junk. It's all in the FOB.

You sound like shit, too. The Glow was CRAMMED with high tech goodies (plasma rifle, anyone?) and it was one of the best locations ever. If a location comes in fairly late in a Fallout game, it's perfectly okay for it to be really high tech. Shit, exploring the ruins of the pre-war world is always one of the coolest things in Fallout.

If it comes near the end. Sure it could be fun but to me it sounds like some mindless location which you just go throught, only for the purpose of getting items to fight the end boss.

Well, that's the whole point. Why would've you needed a plasma rifle in Fallout 1? To defeat the ending boss, of course.

The whole point of the game is to walz through it - by defeating the final opposition at the last stages of the game. You prepare for that, and pretty much for that moment only. The rpg'in on the sidequests etc. is just extra.

Sometimes I enjoy just exploring the map, meeting people and looking for stuff. Enjoying the post-apoc atmosphere, not really focused on the main mission. Makes a nice change from the "driven to save the vault(village)" type of game.

Uh, Susan, you could say the same about every damn location in Fallout 2 except for NCR, Vault 13, San Francisco, Navarro and the Enclave Oil Rig. Everything else is just there to give you lewt and experience.

That's why the first Fallout was much better.

Uh... no. In Fallout 1, it's even worse since only the Military Base and the Cathedral are absolutely critical. Everything else, again, only exists to beef you up a bit.
