It's called "Not being a moron." Let me explain, I am a Catholic, and similar to Hammer I'm not one of those die hard "If you don't believe you shall burn in hell" views. For all I care, you could worship anything you want and I most likely wouldn't say anything as long as you A. didn't try to force your beliefs on me and B. didn't say anything about my religion. So how can I not believe every word in the bible? Simple, because I wasn't born yesterday. I have the ability to pick out crap from what I believe is true.

Not to break anyones views, but I'm pretty certain we can all agree that man wrote the Bible (Wether it was through neccesity, heavily vision, whatever). As such, men are prone to mistakes, and I'm sure that some got into the Bible. Ontop of that however, you can't accept something that someone else who was a normal human being wrote as a the ultimate way to live. You have to choose that for yourself. It's not that "I choose to be a christian whenever it suits me," but more of that I choose to interpret Christianity in my own way that suits me.

Don't know about you, but some of societies greatest innovators don't really seem like they could defend themselves against a pack of house cats. Benjamin Franklin was overweight and although probably considered very smart, was a quite a womanizer and probably would have gotten into alot of fights with the wrong people without much inhibiting those people from bashing his skull in. Newton was a lanky fellow who is now considered having a form of Down Syndrome. Edison was a deaf guy, which isn't too handy when it comes to crossing the street. Steve Hawkin is considered to be the most brilliant scientists around, and he's in a wheel chair on life support talking through a computer. These people would have probably had no chance to survive under Nihilism, but they gave use some of the inventions that allow society as we know it to exist, and I don't know about you, but I rather enjoy being able to see at night without a fire.
neon dingo wrote: "I bet pleny of stupid poeple could kill your ass in a straight out fight."

Sure, I'm not denying that. That's why we have guns. Guns are an equalizer. Hell, someone could kill me right now. Are you seriously thinking that I am saying I'm the survival king of all humans?
I don't think the point was to dethrone you as the king of survival as much as to emphasize that you don't want that to happen. Anyone can buy a gun and shoot you right now, for the most part, the only thing stopping them is the law. Since nihilism promotes survival of the fittest and the fittest being those who shoot first in this case, you'de eventually lose. Losing means dying. Dying is never healthy for you.

That's exactly what I mean. Thank you wolfman, I don't want to shoot you neondingo, why not? because I guess that wouldn't benefit me in any way, or I have morales. I assume you wouldn't shoot me either... because I'm not to sure by the way you talk about what value life has and destroying the government and society. *calls homeland defense office about possible terrorist cell in north Texas comprised of two nihilist brothers*

And about that gun thing and firearms...guns are like a material thing that helps people "defend" themselves from those stronger than them.

The ultimate "Beneficiary" person would live life with a number above every thing and anything he could interact with in the world. This number would be positive or negative. The higer positive the number the more beneficial it will ultimately be for him, and vice versa. So something like aiming at a cop in the middle of a police station with a gun would have a -14442, firing after this would have a -99999. Because you'd be dead after killing hime. Taking a vitamin would have a +400 whereas eating cheetohs would have a -1200. Doesn't that sound fun?

EDIT: Hey the strictly loyal christians who would do his bidding could defend and donate money for his kids better than only you. You see no matter what you say he'd defend you because he loves you.

Read my posts. Again.

It DOESN'T MEAN WE GO KILLING PEOPLE LEFT AND RIGHT.
It DOESN'T MEAN WE GET RID OF ALL SOCIETY IN ALL FORMS.

If I was sterile, I could still help protect his children and contribute money and such. I would be a benefactor to my own genes.

Do we really want to read your posts again? The only thing you've been saying is "Build a new society out of the ashes of the old" over and over again. Thats fine by me, it's just the method you want to go about it is the bothersome part. Nihilism, from what I can tell (I could be wrong, but this is based off of all the information you guys gave me), is alot like social Darwinism, except also applying it for other things in life.

As for your theory of not wanting to kill everyone. You're right. According to what you said about Nihilism is the belief in nothing ((or something out of nothing or whatever you wanna call it)) and that life should really be only about biological benefits and such, you shouldn't kill everyone. Just the other males outside of your family. Their not helping you, their only preventing you from a number of basic biological functions. Their stealing food, mates, etc which can be potentially yours. As such, their lowering your chances of survival. Since you only care about the apperant benefits to yourself, it's perfectly reasonable for to just eliminate the hinderances.

How did contradict myself? Care to explain something instead of just throwing it out there with nothing to back it up?
You said you didn't see the point in arguing about religion. Yet you've posted 8 times in this thread already, pushing your beliefs and saying everyone is wrong.

You're a sorry, depressed little man with a very negative view on life. A few of you other guys are too. You know who you are.

So relax, and have a smoothie or something, and think about how kittens are adorable.

Nihilism is about no belief in the mass accepted morality. In Nihilism Wolfman Walt, you are your own being (Not just some puppet of the masses.), your "morality" is the "morality" you decide. Notice it says rejection of "morality" in the definition of Nihilism?

Ubermensch I think best applies to this.

Neon Dingo believes that the correct "morality" for him is based off of the laws of nature, which makes sense considering it has formed us into what we are today.
How did contradict myself? Care to explain something instead of just throwing it out there with nothing to back it up?
Ghetto Goose, he took that back awhile ago saying that he was just bored.

If you're refering to me, you're wrong. Nihilism is optimism even if you may not believe it. We create our own "morality". Thus a Nihilistic person may be pessimistic or optimistic like anyone else.

Just so you know, I was using the word morality to make you understand. Nihilists in no way believe in morality. Think of it more like a mindset, your personal philosophy on life.

Something out of nothing.

So nihilism is your own mental opinion on what things are and how they should be... so basically Nihilism is truly nothing, like me saying I'm a Jakosasaki. Jakosasaki is making something of nothing. In Jakosasaki you are allowed to believe in what you want, we just don't give things names like "moral" because we're justs cool like that. So everyone is both a Jakosasaki and a Nihilist, because everyone has their own outlook on life, it's just some people call it Jakosasaki and the sad freaks who've been outcast from their community call it Nihilism so they can see themselves as better and more aware of their surroundings than the people who rejected them because they're not totally right in the head. But us Jakosasakis are just pure Tightness up the Hizzy.

Definition of Nihilist: (People who like to think of themselves as better because they don't "follow the masses", they are really just depressed people with too much angst)

Definition of Nihilism: (If you're a person and you have your opinions on what should be done and not done with your life you're a nihilist) So it really is just people trying to act cool by giving a name to something that really is nothing. I mean nothing. Nihilist is just a fuckin word.

Definion of Jakosasaki: (Pure tightness up da hizzzy yo!)

EDIT:
Don't make me STFU you Alpha.
That literally translates into "Don't make me shut the fuck up you Alpha. You used the abreviation wrong. Llike saying "I have an LCD display" That translates to "I have an Liquid Crystal Display display."

You do realize that this debate is going nowhere. Nobody cares to hear other people's own defintion of what they think Nihilism means, over and over. Some people agree with the "right" definition, some people don't, let it go.

Don't make me STFU you Alpha.

Belief in your own morality is an aspect of social Nihilism.

Political is the restructuring of society.

Existential is "How can I be sure that what I see is true?"

What I suggest you do is get more informed on the subject and not assume things, because that is exactly what you are doing.

I'll say it again. It is MUCH more complicated than that. You have only seen what Nihilism from my and Neon's knowledge, so who are you to define it from just that?

www.counterorder.com read the whole "What Is?" page, then make your judgements.

Man..I got into an argument with a professor over Buddhism today...Nothing really big...But she freaked out when I told her it wasn't a true religion...Apparently some people from her school district are Buddhists, and they've threatened to sue the school if they have call Christmas/Holiday break either of those two. They said it can only be called "Winter" break...I told her that those people aren't Buddhists, they're assholes.

I agree. Buddhism and Nihilism both are philosophies.

I've said I was an Atheist about a year ago and the person I told this to asked me what church I went to.

Haha.

Haha, people are stupid. Those people who want to sue the school must not have ny idea what the whole point of Buddhism is. Buddhist accept all religions and religious holidays, why isn't the main religion in the US Buddhism? It would end all of this religious controversial bull shit. "Oh my God! This 10 commandments statue will destroy our entire society! Let's protest until nobody gives a shit anymore!"

Well yes, it does state that, I know.

But I'm just using the word Philosophy in the way-of-thinking reference. Didn't know what else to call it.

Simple, because thats my faith. I believe in God and Jesus, and alot of the stuff in the bible.
Dictionary.com wrote: Christanity - The Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus.

I believe in such and the lessons he taught.....hence making me a christian. Just because I'm capable of independant thought however and don't believe every word that the bible says, doesn't mean I'm any less of a Christian in my honest opinion.

As a christian catholic, i try to live life as best i can. i dont really believe that if your not christian youll go to hell. i could care less what religion you are or arent. i believe in heaven, and hell, but i also beleive that all people can go to heaven as long as they live a good honorable life. As for the bible, it is somewhat flawed. I mean look at its history. It was written in Hebrew, then someone translated it to English and German and so on. If you ever study Hebrew language or even look at it, it looks difficult to understand and read less you it be your native tounge. Plus it was written way way way back then. People back then were more hard to understand they way they wrote and spoke. Then it was translated into another language by MAN. well man makes mistakes. thats why i think that some things in the bible are misquoted. there are a lot of metaphors as well, so how did the guys who translated it know if it was an actual account or a metaphor? I think for the most part it is correct though, but with mistakes.
