Unlocking PDFs?

Post by Kreegle »

My sister is trying to grab some documents from her uni web server, but for some fucked-up reason, the geniuses at the uni have decided that a "look but don't touch" rule should be in place... meaning she can view the files (yay) but she can't download or print them (wtf?!)

After fucking about with the javascript security, web source code and all kindsa crap (I'm a hax0r, you see), I've managed to actually locate the real source of the hidden PDF's and download them. HA.

Except... now that I've got 'em in my grasp, I find that the pdf's are locked - a "security" measure. BAH.

I've had a quite scrape around on Google, and I've found a few programs that will unlock pdf's... but they all cost $$$. Some of them cost hundreds

Does anyone know of any free programs around that unlocks pdfs? Surely they must exist... any help you can provide - I'll be reaaaaally grateful.

Can you not export the PDF to a DOC file? I've been able to do that even with locked documents.

Try calling some computer stores, or software stores, the more specialistic types. Someone oughta now a 'cheap' way to do it.

I'd just call my neigherhood software pirate and get the proggie that writes PDF's to unlock them. But I guess if you don't live on my street that doesn't help.

This is a once off, so spending money on something as trivial as this would be like pouring my candy reward down the drain.

This isn't like trying to crack a program or hack a website - it's not losing anyone any money, or hurting anyone.. it's just saving my poor sister from having to tear her hair out. Have a heart, you cad!

Hmm, not really... I'm not trying to delicately pick the lock - I'm trying to smash the door down quickly with a big fuck-off sledgehammer and then laugh uproariously afterwards. Besides - don't think that one does the trick - cheers though!

i used this m4d h4x0r program photchop, opened the file in it and saved it again?? if you want to make it look better & sharper then don't antialiase it and use a better resolution or something, that should do the trikk
