Um, what? Higher Science skill nets more damage/criticals/whatevers vs. robots? I was not aware of that...

So it's kinda the opposite of the "Living Anatomy" perk?

Hmmm... interesting indeed...

My usual squad at the end:

-Whoever my main character is (sniper w/ high PE and LK, low EN, 8 CH of course :) )
-Stitch (tag energy weapons or big guns & Weapon Handling)
-Dos (one sweeeet sniper)
-Box (Give her Mutate, take away Bruiser and give her Fast Shot...)
-Jax (kamikaze and fast shot... need I elaborate?)
-Shaav (Driver, grenadier, ass-kicker. Give him a power fist and he can take out a long scurry bot all by himself with ease)

Yep, it does, although it didn't originally. It was fixed in the v1.13 patch, IIRC. At any rate, here's the line from the PatchReadMe:
PatchReadMeFile wrote:- The science bonus to criticals on robots is working properly
I usually bump Stitch up to about 100% Science using books, then have him use his SPs from gaining levels to get up to ca. 120%, while I feed the books to first my snipers, then Jax. Even a 60% Science makes a big difference against Bots, and coupled w/a very high Small Guns skill Farsight blinds/knocks out so many Bots it isn't funny. She's also very handy at crippling Tank Bots and Load Lifters with aimed shots to the tracks, after which they are sitting ducks for the rest of my squad to pound into scrap metal.

Ah, readme's... I remember those...

I suppose making a sniper w/ Small Guns, Energy Weapons, and Sneak tagged at the start with Science tagged at the end... and have Sniper/Better Criticals/3X More Criticals/2X Bonus Ranged Damage/Bonus RoF... .................. ... that would be one awsome anti-robot character.

Or have an assaulter with Big guns, Sneak, and Science tagged. I'm thinkin' someone with ~200% big guns, 100% science, and a Browning M2 w/ fast shot, kamikaze, bonus RoF, and 2 levels of bonus Ranged Damage would kick some Behemoth ass.

All this talk makes me wanna play the core campaign again...

But first... to finish Rebellion 2

Mandy - Sharpshooter/medic (good PE, INT, good perks i think?)

Brian - heavy weapon guy (hes the shit!)

Krldraav - my melee thug (mostly gets shot up alot)

Stein - good all-around guy (imho; though he can only fire a heavy weapon once per round)

Rage - Second sniper, gunner guy (replaced stitch with this guy cuz mandy is a good enough medic/doctor; still seeing how it will work out)

i've only just started really playing FOT, farsight was my original sniper but she got gutted by a super mutant from EXTREMELY long range...and i being the stupid person i am quick-saved it after she splattered all over the ground... hehe :)

i got rid of stitch cuz he blows, again in my inexperienced opinion... :p

Now that I've found the races mod it gave me a few .ent files right? well where do i install them to? The read me isn't helping me much... And you were also talking about the editor you get with the patch. And well Ive created some interesting characters and I just cant figure out how to access these guys. Well thats the last of em I hope some of you can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Ok, wanderer, in the zip file there should be a folder called core. just extract the contents of the zip into your Fo:T directory. I am aware that there are other mods that have the individual files and no directory structure. I advise people with those to download the one I sent to NMA (No Mutants Allowed) if you can find the web address here somewhere.

For me its...

Stoma> Great with the Browning M2
Keith> A medic with a M249? Sweet!
Stumpy> Mostly for traps, but decent with big guns
Rebecca> Damn good shot!
Babs> I use her every now and then(for stealing), but she makes for a good sniper
Me> Duh! But always a crack shot with energy weapons
Dillon> I use him if I need a tried and true sniper
Max> only if I need another decent heavy weps guy early on (ie St Louis)
And thats it.

My squad right now:

Max - Leader/Close Assault (with submachine gun & ripper). Also good at bartering.

Stitch - Medic / Scientist / Secondary Assault (woe unto those raiders who gather in tight groups when Stitch and his combat shotgun are in range...)

Jax - All-Purpose Grunt / Fearless Charger

Rebecca - Sniper / first aid / trap & lockpick specialist

Stein - Got him as a replacement after Farsight's unfortunate demise in Madoc. He's a good sniper, and also totes around a rocket launcher for which he has no ammo at the moment.

Jo - Driver / mechanic. I started pumping up her throwing skill when I saw how many grenades I'd collected. She actually torched a group of deathclaws with an incendiary, so that's coming along nicely. Also a handy backup fighter with an AK47.

I'm not that far into the game, and I suspect I'll have to make some changes once I start running into more robots, turrets, etc... but so far this squad has worked very well for me.

Well i'm on the last level and this is my current squad.

ArchVile- my character
Clarise- she kicks ass and you know it
John- Medic, M2, how can you go wrong?
Box- Good support, i gave her the gauss Minigun
Dillion- good sniper, used mutate on his glowing one
Slim- not an amazing character but can hold his own in a fight

My final squad my last time through was Clarise, Billy Bob, Brian, Mandy, and Rage. I always sneak around, so recruits without sneak tagged are not an option to me. Since good snipers are in pretty short supply and perk choice is often haphazard, I tagged energy weapons for Mandy and Rage as well as my main character for greater control rather than switch them out. I'm also partial to Target and Stevie since they've got good perception and skill points. I'd really rather have Stein than Brian as my big guns guy, but he doesn't have Sneak tagged.

Sneak? Sneak i only found usefull on the early missions, after that there was no point to it really. Essepically when you have power armor lowering your sneak by 50 or 60 percent.

I thought it was pretty useful the whole game. With it tagged, it easy to get both sneak and your main weapon skill over 150 or 175 by the time you got power armor. It was always of great benefit to be able to ambush enemies one at a time without enemies getting potshots at them the whole time, especially once the enemies had good weapons.

I actually managed to jack up Stitch's combat skills a ton, and he's my fifth heavy-weapons guy, now. I like HW, can ya tell? My squad is:

Hero - Sniper, HW, EW, some medical stuff. Pulse rifle.
Max - Hoorah! EW/HW god. Slow, but I got Mutate! and gave him Gifted. Speedified. Pulse Rifle or M2/Ripper.
Stitch - HW guy, massive medical, Science, Pilot. Has a good Sneak skill, too, and totes around a Vindicator, an Avenger, a Ripper, and a Sniper Rifle.
Stein - Gets killed a lot, but has some good HW skill. Vindicator or M2.
Mother - Cranked up her sneak skill, gave her the Lifegiver perks and Toughness, and rock and roll!
Jax- Feahluss. Him and Max make me scared. Vindicator.

I use all the Vindicators because I have more 7.62mm ammo than God. :P In the trunk of my APC I have around 7000 rounds of it.

Why don't you buy a real gun? The Vindi is in my experience, useless against robots unless you like having to throw 200+ rounds into them. Use a lil something i like to call a Galting Laser, tears through robots like a hot knife through butter. Or a Pancor Jackhammer with EMP shells. AND WHERE IS CLARISE?! She is the most godlike character, EVER.

Or, you could use the best weapon in the game. The GAUSS MINIGUN. Only prob is that there isn't enough ammo for it. But that all changes if you use one of my super prefab characters. You start the game with a Gauss Minigun and about 5000000 rounds of 2mmEC in your inventory and a carry limit of 1000000lbs

I know, but if you crank the difficulty up to Insane and go it solo, gives it a bit more of a challenge.

Hacked characters take no skill, regardless of difficulty. End of story.

And the Vindicator is pretty good if you have a high agility and a lot of rounds. I was blowing away bots with one shot by game's end (Sniper + Vindicator = critical heaven).

And I do use the Pancor occaisonally, but I run out of EMP shells and that rat bastard quartermaster doesn't stock enough. Ditto with the Gauss Minigun. I try to stay away from EWs, I just don't like them, usually, except the pulse rifle.

Oh, and I just ditched Mother for Brian, and tossed him a gauss rifle. Much better, and I don't miss the sneak much.

Still the only big guns you can find me using at the end of the game are the M2 (one squadie) and the Gauss minigun.

but now this was my newest squad that i used to beat the game

Me - EW, Gatling Laser, pulse rifle
Slim- EW, Gatling Laser, pulse rifle
Dillion- Sniper, Gauss rifle, Pancor Jackhammer w/ EMP
Box- BG, M2, power fist
John- Medic, Gauss Minigun, Parimedic kits (15 in total when i finished)
Clarise- EW, throwing, Gatling Laser, pulse rifle, pulse grenades.

As you can tell, i really like the Gatling laser. Plus i thought of a new Stat set up that i'm gonna try in my next game

ST-5
PE-8
EN-4
CH-8
IN-8
AG-8
LK-6

Gifted, fastshot
Small guns, energy weapons, barter.
