I'd like to see people able to build houses in towns to live in. Although, if it caught on there could be a danger of fallout online turning into less of a post apocolyptic world and more of say a really bad neigborhood.

Hey! u could have code locks at ur doors so only U!!! can go into ur house.
The the code locks could be looking fallouty (dry, dusty look).
Then think of joining the Brotherhood of steel in an online enviroment wasteland! YAAHOO! And players can start in different factions like in Anarchy Online! BOS,Raders,Masters army (or the remnants of it),Enclave,Ghoul communities and Wasteland Citizens!
And about the races: Human(Tribal included),Ghoul,Super Mutant,Deathclaw.
Then u should be able to chose a Job or be like the old school fallout chars (no job at all).
Whew! that would rock and rule!

i'd move the whole setting to the east coast. preferrably around N'yawk and DC.

you'd get to start with a clean slate.

The threat on building communities is that you may end up spending more time trying to "live" then play, if you've ever played the sims then you'll know what I'm talkingabout. Don't get e wrong, I like your "housing" idea I just think that it should be planned VERY carefully so as not to detract from your long gang warfare campiegns, walk abouts or quests. Of course the other fun thing about housing is that it also alllows for fortresses and bases making defending/attacking far more interesting with custom built housing (like hiring guards or using fences or whatever).

It doesn't excist because it's a stupid, terrible and unpheasable idea thought up by 12-year old idiots with no idea about how Fallout or MMORPGs work. That's why.

You mean as opposed to the "Wouldn't it be k3wl" mentality most of these posts exhibit?

well tank, i too think some of the people here are a bit overenthusiastic. but that's not sufficient (for me) to start being all judgemental and label people.

labels are for cans, dammit.

I dunno... I kinda like the idea of being able to dig up parts for a house and build it out of scap as some place to keep junk. besides, most of the world would live in houses in isolated towns, so the number of wonderers would be low... so whats the problem with housing?

Changes are, you'd be shot by a gang of teen angst-ridden clannie raiders long before you got that house up.

YOu would be lucky to build a house in that kind of enviroment. But if you did survive, it would be very rewarding. A shitty house, crappy car, a wife (if your lucky) and a job shoveling brahim poo. I think its a very good idea.

Along with about 300 prepubescent kids scrubbing their asses on the walls, or the maturity equivalent.
