Dmg mod...

Post by Armisael »

I guess this is a pretty basic question, but I've been looking around for a while and I can't find an answer to it - what exactly does the dmg mod on ammo mean? Does a dmg mod of 3/2 actually mean the bullet does one and a half times the weapon damage or is it something else?

Cheers.

I looked in the Fallout manual and I couldn't find anything. Can you give me a page reference? Or better yet, just explain it outright?

It's in the Fallout 2 manual, then.

However, it's exactly like you said. You multiply the damage by the damage mod. To calculate total damage you would then subtract damage threshold, then you multiply by the damage resistance.

So, a hit does 20 damage, but it used 10 mm JHP which has a damage mod of 2/1 so it does 40 damage. It hits someone with a damage threshold of 5, so the damage is automatically reduced by 5 to 35. Then the damage resistance is taken into account, which for the purposes of this demonstration is 35%. You take the 35 damage times (1 - .35) and you get a total of 22.75 damage. I think that gets rounded up but I'm not sure.

That's exactly how it works from what i've seen.

Originally, I though damage mod was applied to all damage *after* damage threshold and damage resistance were factored in (which would make more sense), but it's not the case.

1) damage mod * damage.
2) enemy's damage threshold * (1 + ammunition DR modifier).
3) enemy's armor class * (1 + ammunition AC modifier).
4) (damage - damage threshold) * DR
5) final damage may not be less than zero.

is the AC lowered by a percent or by a whole number?
