The Great Mouse Hunt

Ok, I was browsing around the FOT .bos files and found some confusing stuff. first off, who the hell at interplay put their background picture in the files? i forgot which file it was in but it was background.jpg. and then, the quotes from the credits (holt CTRL or SHIFT then hit credits), theres something like that, called mouse.txt (again i forgot which file its in, i deleted the game). its a hilarious quote list about how an interplay staffer saw a mouse, everyones freaked, then one person keeps on urging evryone to kill something. its worth checking out, probably.

Aparrently there is a .txt file that contains all the quotes in the sequence. You can add your own to incrimnate the makers or put yourself among them.

There's another odd thing about FOT. If you do a search (goto Start | Search | Search for files or folders) for .mp3 files on your computer, it returns a LOT of FOT mp3s. If you listen to them, you'll find that a lot of them weren't implemented into the singleplayer game.

A good example of this is Hazmat. He's the ghoul that drops off the bomb and documentation for it after the mission where you get the nuke. Only he doesn't appear in the bunker, but they bothered to make a sprite for him and spoken dialouge. Why would they bother if they weren't going to use that character?

Another is Paladin Latham's diaries. It wasn't included, yet after listening to them it seems that they give good backround information on why Paladin Latham (a.k.a. Gammorin) turned against the Brotherhood. They even included a mission accomplished congratulations from General Dekker on finding his audio diaries. Why they would go to all that trouble to include these things and not bother to implement them is beyond me.

It seems like it was all just a waste of time.

There's a load of things that were wasted about FOT. Why have the Scouter? Why have onlt 5 people in a Tank? Why have a Buggy AND a Scouter?

There is an answer about the tank. The tank in FOT is modeled after the M4 Sherman, which was in use by the U.S. in WWII. The real-life tank has a crew of five. A driver, an assitant driver, gunner, loader, and commander. So you see, the reason for having a maximum crew of five is because the REAL tank had a max. crew of five. Simple history.

As for the Scouter, it has uses for reconnisaince work, but not much else.

They probably made the buggy because the developers thought that some other group of people besides the BOS should have vehicles. That's the only logical reason I can think of for including such a vehicle, anyway.
