Happy 5th Anniversary, Fallout!

Post by Kreegle »

[ -> N/A]

Hello children. Let's go back... way back in time... to the dark, unenlightened times of 1997 (that's 5 years ago, for those who aren't too good with their maths. 1st October, 1997... 4:15 pm - it was a Wednesday. A chap named Feargus Urquhart, giggling like a schoolgirl, made a post on the official Fallout website:
Project Update: Well, it's done. We shipped Fallout!

Actually, we silvered today, which means that we should be in major stores by Oct 10. So, it hasn't really shipped yet, but the duplication and manufacturing has begun! Shipped, silver - hey, we're done!
And Fallout was born!

Pull out your party hats and pop the champagne! Here you go, Fallout designers... your 5th Anniversary presents - traditionally it's supposed to be something out of wood, in these days it's supposed to be silverware... but because we love you so much, you're gonna get both!

<img src="http://www.duckandcover.net/news/spoon. ... atulations! Big thanks to our good friend Lasse for uncovering the truth!

Uhh.... like, yay and stuff?

In five years it will be the tenth anniversary of Fallout, and then we will all look back at the ten years Fallout fans spent bitching at BIS and Interplay... then probably kill themselves or something...

Actually, Kreegle.. You should have held off until October 6th, which everyone knows is SHIP DAY. Even the Pipboy 2000 in Fallout marks this day.

Bad Kreegle. Bad!

Has it been so long; if FO3 hasn't happened by now i don't think that it'll ever happen, or when it does happen it'll happen when the RPG market is in another trough.

Funny thang, the hand o' fate,
saw some possible future possessed hardware and app's that would need OS 10. Hooked in the (money-)bag.........again......

Yes, I am a horny sailor when my pockets are fully charged with 20's.

Ya, instead of overhauling my Win-blo's PC's, or assembling the pieces and parts from other cadavers, (IT"S ALIVE!!!!)..

This day.....
I bought OS 10 (please save the pretentious 'X' numeral for the flamingshithealedartists [that's ONE word right?] that infect Mac's purposeless, peopleless design, that's how one 'wins' design awards:make the functional-non'functional.), AND the Macplay edition of FALLOUT.
To the credit and "coo-does" of the staff and the matey ol' cashier!

Hearty FO fans, all!

And St._Prov., it may take me to Oct-6 to reconfigure 'n' upgrade this ol' G3, so I am compelled to set that date, to start shooting rats on my way to the surface....

A fool 'n' his money are soon parted....

As far as I can tell we've been in it since Fallout came out. Well, possibly with th exception of geneforge, but it being indie makes it almost irrelevant.
