Total Recall

It's a remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie (or I guess just based on the book) about the dude who goes into some Total Recall fantasy thing and can't tell what is real and what is not. It's been a long long time since I've fully watched the original (I'll have to do that soon) but I kind of remember the original being better than this movie.

This current one has Colin Ferral, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel. The movie has tons of action pretty much to it's detriment since you don't get to see a lot of the character truly interact with each other other than with guns and hand to hand combat. There was pretty much only one scene were they question whether what he was experiencing was real or was it recall. The action is pretty decent has some flow to it and use of the scenery but sometimes it feels like they are running through different sets too fast. All three actors did a pretty good job but Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are kind of too hot for their roles and become distracting.

I don't know how Arnold could be in so many good movies but these current guys struggle with just having one decent one. Maybe it's nostalgia but I feel like all the Arnold movies were much better than the current stuff.

The original one was a masterpiece.

The first Total Recall was a classic. This new one looks like a generic sci-fi piece of crap. It maybe good but I have a difficult time sitting through action films nowadays even if they are better than average. Perhaps I'm overstating the greatness of the original but it is still a very enjoyable film that managed to be both a tongue in cheek action movie and have some interesting ideas as well. And Arnie was actually pretty good in it.

Totally. Probably due to the fact it's based on a Philip K Dick story, the ideas in the plot are interesting. But then, there were tons of movies based on Dick's stories that sucked. The original Total Recall just had some charm in an undescriptible way.

Stylistically this one looks like it has a bigger cyberpunk theme than the original, I haven't seen it yet but I want to just to see the differences for myself.

I was hoping the chick with the three boobs would still have them made out of paper mache but I guess that's asking for too much.

If you don't mind me trying- there's the surface of Mars; the multi-breasted hooker; the talking-explody head; the baby resistance leader out of someone's torso; the johnny cab; the face-melted; the michael ironside. It's a prime piece of total escapism- violent, camp, with awesome make-up fx and a clever plot that promoted post-cretidal discussion :tim burton's apes: . Most of all it was uncompromising adult-oriented entertainment. (in a world where adult didn't necessarily mean pornographic)

This one looks extremely interchangeable with the likes of Paycheck, Minority Report, I-robot and the like. Really, just about every other pg-13 crap like the island, surrogates, that one with timberland, yadda yadda yadda. Like taco sez- generic. :drunk:

I'm gonna be that guy but this needs to be said. There needs to be more intellectual science fiction movies.

and TV shows. Things like the reimagined Battlestar Galactica and, especially, the Scifi channel Dune miniseries.

Sharon Stone was on top of her game than too. Yikes.

Beckinsale and Biel got some nice hardbodies themselves, too bad this remake will blow.
nipples
firm, supple, asses
big breastises

Well, shit. If that's that guy territory, then there goes suggesting "western cinema's badly in need of a renaissance of sorts" out the window. Can you imagine how bad of a that guy thing that'd be to say? :duckie:

Movie was really meh. The problem is that while it only shares the basic plot with the original, it feels like it did NOTHING different and the original did everything better. Also. It lacks Michael Ironside. Everything is better with Michael Ironside.

Is Kuato in this new one? I'm going to go see it on Friday I think, and I will be very disappointed if there is no Kuato.

Prepare for disappointment. He's replaced with, coincidentally, the only english guy in the movie. This is ironic as most of it is set in Britian.

Also - now that I think about it, good ol' three tits is REALLY out of place as they never ever mention mutants to my memory and she's the only person with any sort of mutation in the movie aside from the fact that EVERYONE has really awesome knees and ankles to handle all that jumping.

I don't trust all these PG-13 action movies cluttering up the place lately. Half the reason I saw Prometheus was because it had that solid, reassuring 'R' rating slapped onto it like a seal of approval. Total Recall without blood and guts? Fuck off.
