Yeah, imagine if Black Isle were given the chance to officially make Fallout 4. And the fact that they were in the talks of doing it after finishing up FO3: Van Buren as a follow up, is really something to ponder over. Well, at least we have New Vegas! Because truth be told, that game is really a mixture of Van Buren's content, with Black Isle's planned storyline for FO4.

TBH, I personally don't like the theory it's because to see the protagonist of Fallout 2 be reduced to THAT! Is just messed up & sad.

Personally I just think the charm in the older fallouts was that the Mysterious Stranger was just an easter egg, nothing that needed to be explained.

Yes. I never tried much of the new version. The introduction of interpretations of the mysterious stranger fits better in the first two games. If the fan theory comes from later games, then, for me it's null and void.

Second, yeah TBH I've always wondered why Bethesda decided to change The Mysterious Stranger's portrayal in their games. From being simply a good mysterious Samaritan defender from the wastes, to a supernatural killer who's potentially been around for hundreds & thousands of years.
