Best I can offer as far as RTS spies go is C&C: Red Alert 2. Good luck with that.
A faster-paced, more maniacal and raunchy version of GTA4 is Saints Row 2. Not as much in-game detail as GTA, but there's still plenty to do, people to kill, ridiculous bullshit to enjoy. Such as:
-Septic Trucks that allow you to spray feces from a pressurized cannon
-Leaping in front of cars to fake injury for insurance fraud
-Beside the conventional arsenal, use tazers, defibrillators, laser-guided rockets and random scenery props such as trash cans, fire hydrants and 2X4s
-drink a 40oz and smoke a blunt
-pimp out your vehicles in ridiculous and excessive ways
-customize yourself and your gang
-unlock no fall damage, bail out from a helicopter cockpit, and backflip all the way to the ground
-Enjoy Red Faction nostalgia/prequel/shenanigans
Might as well just torrent them and save the cash for gas money

It's true.

the demo is pretty and gives a flava of what life if like in the real world so maybe give that a try buster.
i dont really like rts as its pretty consumerist dont u think! PFF. saints row 2 is pretty good but just not hardcore enough.
steam is alright, saves me mounting shit or finding a cd from 98. ill just stick to skulltag for now i guessss

Just Cause 2 is supposed to kind of be like a GTA but much more extreme action, there are a lot of youtube videos of people doing crazy stuff.
There was a spy game on steam where people were on a boat and I guess you play online and other people are trying to find the spy or something. It sounds like something you might want to take a look at but I don't remember the name of it and I don't know if there is a community for it anymore.
edit: Gimpmask reminded me it was called The Ship.

You do any modding? I don't know how much the community gets into it, or what the status is of said community, but somewhere along the lines, you might get lucky and find a dismemberment mod, or something tasty.Megatron wrote:saints row 2 is pretty good but just not hardcore enough.
Or, try your luck and see if you can rip vehicles/etc from Red Faction: Guerilla and add them into Saints 2. That'd probably be where I would start looking for opportunities first.
Not certain if one can even access this installation guide/feature list/change log without a login so be to having direct links to the keyboard/mouse or X360 controller versions - comparable to Wesp's work on VTM : B, in that it combines gameplay tweaks with some bug fixes. Mostly tweaks. Installation is a reasonably straight forward backup and swap. Unlimited satchel charges in multiplayer are rather bueno.
