Pray tell; games to play

Post by Mismatch »

So since I, in my january salary, got paid for all of last years overtime I got quite a big pay check (50% was lost to taxes so I ended up not quite as much... bloody commies) but I've ordered a new computer.

Now, which games should I get?

50% taxes? Tell me where you live so I can know not to move there.

Also, it seems everyone is playing Mass Effect 2 so maybe you should do that. Unless you haven't played the first one yet.

Hey, maybe some of your tax kronors went to fund feminist porn.

I'm having a blast with Exult and System shock 2 on my new laptop.

I had a blast with Red Faction Guerrilla, Dragon Age was pretty ok too, if a little too dull in the combat side of things.

Playing it now with my new rig, 'tis decent I suppose though I do thing that the whole character creation/skills/leveling/etc is quite dumb..... but I give it 5.5 out of 10 right now, tho' I haven't finished it yet.

It has its noticeable Bioware flaws which they like to port to every fucking game they touch, but I think it's one of their better games, because Mass Effect wasn't really anything special.

I enjoyed DA:O a lot, however I played it for quite a few hours when I was drunk off my tits, as a result of which I don't remember crucial plot twists. Now I'm like, this guy hates me, why? I just cannot enjoy the game any more, I think I'll probably have to start all over :E

I stopped play DA when I got to the dwarve dungeons and heard that the deep roads are really bad. It did all the other alliances I think except that one. The game was alright but I just kind of moved on to mass effect 2.

Mismatch, I heard stalker: call of priypat is good.

It is, but its a bit short if you focus on the main plot.

Haha, I thought that deeproads were pretty interesting! Pretty much on par with the human alliance thing, but elves were dumb.

Tangent; Dirty Diaries was vastly dissapointing.

Also, if I had a brand spankiing new PC, I'd be playing BioShock 2 right now.

From my wanderings and personal experience, Call of Pripyat appears to be the least shoddily coded of the three. I've clocked approximately sixteen hours, and have yet to enjoy a plot nullifying bug. Three crashes, one lizard induced, no lockups.

And a mild state of shock.

Oh yes, before I FORGET - I've enjoyed The Void, despite the less challenging translation. Pleasantly surreal, delightful ambience. Memorable, even. :drunk:

Thing about L4D2 is it has some good points but not worth it at full price wait for steam to have it for under 20 dollers then you wont feel bad about having payed for it.

People have said Bioshock 2 wasn't as good as the first, and I never cared much for it to begin with. Go with Left 4 Dead 2.
