The Last Great Pre-Teaser Discussion

It is important to emphasize that we are roughly 5 DAYS AWAY from the FALLOUT 3 teaser!

Gang Warfare & Ties That Bind

Picture it: I’m Adam - the negro midget (this was the correct terminology during the time the game came out) on rollerblades set out to kick some rabid street gang ass! Are you already as excited as I am?!

I walked in on a party of 6 Raiders getting massacred by a gang of 23 thugs from the outskirts of San Francisco. You bet your ass I made that Raider victory possible. The thanks I get? A shotgun blast to the back of the head. And it wasn’t the contradictory reaction to the service I provided that bugged me, it was the AUTOMATIZED way that all these things happen. No thought (no deviation from default NPC modalities) whatsoever.

And that FUCKING SUCKED (SORRY FOR THE ALL THE FUCKING CAPS BROTHA MECHANURGIST)

I'm sure it'll be quite a tortu... erm, teaser.
And let us not be mistaken over the significance involved in watching the first F3 video clip: our decade in waiting for the next Fallout will, symbolically, be over.
Well, technically we've been through this a number of times already with every Fallout incarnation since Fallout 2. Needless to say, the expectations among the Fallout community are rather low at this point, at least compared with what they would've been 5 years ago.
many words
So you're basically talking about NPC/quest design and combat AI, except that you wrote a diffuse 5 paragraph essay to explain something that could've been explained in a few sentences. But yeah, being able to choose your battles would be nice.

Macky, most of what you are talking about can be resolved simply by making more than two types of person in the game world, i.e. "aggressor" and "defender." I'll it would take to fix this is by just making sure that every NPC can make sense of who is who, which I agree is not too much to ask.

Also, don't make a habit of writing novels on this forum. They're a too time-consuming to slog through, especially when, echoing VasikkA, you can say what you have to say in a couple of sentences.

Has it really only been 5 years since I've started having low expectations? I thought it'd have been longer.

Ever since Fallout 2, I had absolutely no expectations for a sequel so.... I don't know where I was going with that

Now I remember. I can't believe its been almost a decade. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to enjoy Fallout when it was at its graphical peak. I am glad I was able to play it before I knew what an X-Box was and hadn't been spoiled by mindless action-fests. Fallout will always be my favorite game. I don't believe any true fan of the game can fully describe what is so magical about Fallout but it really is a work of art if ever a computer program was. amen.

A lack of finesse is not (always) a symptom of post length. So, try to cut Macky some slack, you horrid three. At the least until optical surrender. :drunk:

Did I just read an advertisement? Also, Macky, I think you need to use more ALL CAPS to emphasize your point. I just wasn't getting it when you used regular capitalisation.
Short and to the point:
No, not really, but I think I understood your dense prose: make NPC reactions more logical.

I'm all for that.

Optimus Prime rips them out. No surrender required.

Green? I think it looks like some gay yellow. Are you perhaps color blind? Or am I color blind? Are we all color blind?

In the land of the optically surrendered, the color blind man is the king. B)

I think the OP has left and is never coming back. Good job, guys. <sigh>

It's a puke-yellow-green colour.

it's more green than yellow but the font shares properties of both colours, can't we just settle on that?
