Problem with CD ROM and Fallout 1

Post by caretaker1 »

Hello,

I have an original version of Fallout, however my CDROM does not recognize that there is a disk in the drive. The drive recognizes other disks fine. The Fallout disk has no visible scratches or dirt. I've checked the FAQ, however did not find this specific problem. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I am running Windows XP.

Thank you.

Try sinning less...

Sins make your PC work poorly.

Are you able to copy all the files from the CD drive onto your hard disk and install it from there? When you say not recognising it, is the game not picking it up or are you unable to even browse it in Windows Explorer?

Is it an actual Fallout disk? Or a copy?

I've had that problem before with a legit, actual, for-real Fallout disk. Reinstall.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Hello again,

Some answers to the questions:
1) Windows does not detect the disk at all. I cannot "explore" the contents. Therefore I can't get any of the files onto the HD because I can't see them to select them.
2) It is an original disk that I purchased back when it was still sold retail. It has never left my ownership and no copies have ever been made of it.
