Aneurysm wrote:That's kinda sad Susan, seriously amigos why are u gangbangin on the poor lad, right now we have a thread about turds in the wasteland, is this any different from his posts ?
Show me some of his attacks on the Dac's moral I must have missed something...
Isn't the wasteland supposed to be shitty anyway ? I have only seen him post in the wasteland why dont you just ignore him.
Basically what RabidPeanut did was that he posted a stupid one liner in 15 newest threads in the Wasteland cursing and calling people various names. Unfortunately the contents of his posts were more or less the same so eventually you grow tired of that pretty quickly.

Kahgan did that too for awhile with his :urgh: shit, but I haven't seen much of that lately.

Yes, the wasteland is supposed to be shitty, but the spam must have at least some wit in it and combined with quality filth it makes an unbeatable concept.

& = "and" for the english fuckers. Did I fail to grasp the sarcasm again?

It could be worst D;

Well, um & still means 'et' since it's Latin and shit. If you think it's dependable on the reader's language, then B& would be 'boch' for Mismatch and 'bja' for me... You faggety English-speaking minority just misuse it ET CETERA D;

I'm not sure but I guess people in Poland say 'i'* or the English 'and' for the '&' sign, and not the Latin 'et'.

*'i' is the Polish for 'and', pronounced like English 'e'

First of all, the dispute here is about how it should be said, not how people say it. Secondly, you shouldn't generalise what people in Poland say. Some may say 'Go Yankees!' when they read the '&' sign, you never know.

I've learnt to pronounce it 'et', but sometimes I say 'and'* so I don't seem like a smartass, especially near dumb people.

*language may vary

I never knew & originated from the latin word "et". I just thought it meant "and". So do most people I think.

I'm sorry to say this, but this is BS. Read my post AS relating to what Kashluk wrote. Also, it's far more interesting, and far more.. 'sincere' to discuss what people say. I'm into descriptive, not prescriptive approach to language.
Secondly, you shouldn't generalise what people in Poland say.
oh yes I should. And hey, I even made allowances for the possible variation: i/and.
Some may say 'Go Yankees!' when they read the '&' sign, you never know.
:drunk: :clap:

good for you. But finally, should I take this into consideration because "you shouldn't generalise what people (...) say" or NOT take it into consideration bacause "the dispute here is about how it should be said, not how people say it" and your particular case wouldn't matter?
Ahh, forget it! :giggle:

[/quote]You needn't have.

I guess some people are more likely to use 'and' or their native lang. equivalent for '&' beacuse they see it more as a result of American influence than of Latin. It's not very interesting to discuss anyway, is it? Let's have some fun instead! :dance:

I'd guess this is the story behind it, but that's only a wild guess.

It's called ligature, a common phenomenon in Latin.
