Trojan installer..

Post by ExtremeDrinker »

So there's an ad that shows up, uses ActiveX, and installs a trojan. TrojanDownloader.Istbar.BT from "ysb_regular.cab" It appeared when the Napster ad loaded.

Fix, mebbe?

I'll get Taluntain on to it. He's responsible for the ads.

Sorry about that, but I don't really have any control over what shows up. Ads are geo-based, so everyone is served different ads depending on their geographical location. If I'd seen anything like this, I'd report it immediately.

However, there isn't enough information to report it in this post. Was this a regular ad (which size, if so?), or a pop-up? If you can take a screenshot and dump it somewhere it's also very helpful (but not required).

In the future, as soon as you notice an ad that is doing anything nasty, please fire me a mail at http://www.sorcerers.net/Info/Contact/index.php with the information I require (ad size, which site, description of the ad and what it is doing), and I'll report it immediately. This goes for any site hosted by SP.

I can put together a post for a sticky with this info and we could pin it in all site feedback forums.

I hate crap like this even more than you do, trust me... But shit like this happens every now and then with every advertising provider.
