The Queen Tour Thread

Post by Mr. Teatime »

Here's an interview done a few days ago from their rehearsals:

I can't wait. One of the highlights of my year.

EDIT: it seems this isn't the complete interview, which had a load of Roger Taylor stuff as well. Maybe that'll be put up later.

It's pretty likely they'll be there after the summer, from the rumours I read.

A lot of these other bands are really cool. Johnny Clegg is on right now. According to Teatime, he's a big South African singer. Sounds really good.

Yeah MSFD: if you're cynical about this 'reformed' Queen... watch the broadcast, I bet it will be impressive, and DIFFERENT from a Freddie impersonator.

There's the first song they played. Most of the set was cut from the broadcast for some reason, which is fucking annoying. But I think it sounds pretty damn good, considering how nervous Paul Rodgers must be. And the band sound great, especially Roger Taylor's drumming.

The band's in fine shape, but honestly, Paul Rodgers doesn't sound that good. I know he's got a really tough act to follow, but he's not even trying here. It's not that his voice sounds different. I saw Jethro Tull last November and even though Ian Anderson's voice has changed immensely since Aqualung was recorded and he's not doing the whole immense wig and suit thing, it still sounded like Tull. Paul Rodgers isn't getting into the song enough, or something. Maybe needs more practise.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

I think he was really really nervous. He messed up a lot of lyrics later on as well. I imagine he's being pretty hard on himself.

i think his voice is fine, but they're on a sellout arena and concert tour of europe, ticket sales have only been exceed by U2, in the whole world. That's massive, bigger than Rodgers has ever done I'd imagine, and Paul Rodgers has a lot of eyes on him.

The webcast quality was poor, and I think he was just very nervous. It's the first time they've performed on stage.

And the band sound great.

two videos from the rehearsals. I personally think they sound great, and Roger Taylor's drumming is particularly impressive....
