Half Life 2 story guide

very interesting. having just completed HL2 and being left with a lot of unanswered questions. I like the way the plot seems to be told in incidental details that are easy to miss.

best FPS in recent history though, no doubt about that.

I saw the Half Life story guide/timeline a few weeks ago and it's quite good.

I just finished the game a second time on Hard mode. There's so much stuff I missed the first time through. Must have counted at least a dozen g-man sightings. The striders were way the fuck more difficult with their beam attacks. There's other things I can't remember because it always takes me a week to play.

Far Cry and Half Life 2 are the best singleplayer FPS's released in the last few years. Far Cry is dead as far as multiplayer is concerned. But if the mod community embraces HL2, and with the recent release of DM and the SDK (I'm so glad the wait was a matter of weeks rather than months) this shit can really take off. Oh, and Steam better not fuck everything up.

I played it on hard my first (and only, so far) time through, after hearing reports that it was an easy game.

The storyline reminds me a bit of Donnie Darko's - you can't possibly understand it by watching the film/playing the game by itself, you have to get a guide or do some outside research to understand what's going on. Kind of frustrating, but intruiging at the same time.

How very Lynchian.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Comprehension of Donnie Darko requires outside assistance ? Based on my own experience with the film, I'd have to disagree. :drunk:

Yep, that comic sums it up pretty well.

Where does this site get it's information anyway? It sounds like one fan's conjecture and bullshit to me.

"I believe that G-Man is an agent of an interstellar rebel alliance (assuming a human form)"

Oh, okay.

Did they have their own history of Half-Life?

I wouldn't trust them either. Bullshit is bullshit no matter which bull it comes from.

Well, the interstellar alliance is speculation(read: bullshit), other info is from raising the bar or prima strat guide.

While escaping, Wallace Breen comments "But I can't teleport there, this host body won't be able to handle it." This convinces me that Wallace Breen is not a human.

Since it was not addressed in that FAQ, and to the contrary states that Wallace Breen is a human, I'd have to say that the story guide is bullshit.

AFAIK, he says something like "I can't survive there! ... a host body?", so he is a human.

Well, you can get the GCFScape tool and extract audio files... anyway, who cares about that old fart.
