Blizzard's "Leave No NPC Behind" plan, WoW

Post by Sovy Kurosei »

Since it is humourous and whatnot. This is Blizzard's new MMORPG, World of WarCraft, which I am a subscriber to. Although I am not too sure for how much longer after reading this troubling tidbit of news.

Blizzard's New PvP Ruleset
The Blizzard sez... wrote:Here is the current PvP honor system:
Dishonorable kills
-You cannot get a dishonorable kill for killing another player.
-You can get a dishonorable kill for killing a lower level NPC.

Honorable kills
-You currently get an honorable kill for killing a similar level NPC.
-In the future, we hope to add to the honorable kill system to provide for PvP rewards. You will be rewarded in some fashion for killing a similar level PC. You will not be rewarded for killing a much lower level PC.
Which, you know, is pretty darn odd, since Blizzard was preaching that you get dishonour points for nailing lowbies to the wall with your Leet Axe of +5. Now, here comes the Rex twist.
Now the Blizzard sez... wrote:But then you introduce baiting.

Assuming you can see color codes in big fights (sometimes that's harder than you think), the lower level player will ALWAYS have to take initiative, since the average higher level player would never attack first for fear of a penalty.

Or, you could get a very low player with a very high level partner hiding in the wings. The low level player hits a passerby who retaliates and is now flagged for PvP. The high level partner swoops in and kills the passerby. Thus this would also be considered ganking.
God forbid lower level players getting the initiative on higher level players!

It is also a bit odd that Blizzard is worried about a low level/high level team working in concert to grief players than, you know, a high level (or two!) ganking a player.
But now the Blizzard sez... wrote:The notion that we don't care about ganking is incorrect. Our point is that a penalty system does not address ganking. It only creates more avenues for exploitation.
I think that block quote needs little comment on the basic, underlining problems with what our friendly Blizzard developer said.

So just don't play on a PvP server if it gives you such a heartache.

hmm I agree...

Also, I'd just ignore the whole cencept and remove the "honor"-system...

So what if high-levels keep bashing down the n00bs? It's not like you're a waltzing dwarf in the barrens... if you are, and you're below lvl 50, then you're a fucktard.

Just stay in your own damn land until you can take care of yourself.

I have always played on the PvE (Normal) servers, never wanted to deal with the risk of ganking on the PvP servers. I posted this bit because Blizzard isn't taking their meds and is spouting all kinds of funny stuff.

There's lots of wacky MMORPG terminology out there.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

I heard "gank" in the movie Airheads as a reference for shooting someone, but the characters in that film probably aren't the best people to take English lessons from.
