I think on top of Neeson's mediocre performance it seems that Beth is trying to compensate for the fact that their game sucked with celebrity voicing.

Specifically that their writing sucks. But that only makes it worse when you're going for high-profile actors. If I had to do a recording of fan-fiction grade material, I'd be pissed and do a poor job too, and I'm not even spoiled by a high-profile acting career or anything.
