Fallout ranger, it's an understandable mistake for two reasons:
1) in Finnish conscription system you won't necessarily know where you'll end up (army, navy, air forces) before the very day you begin your service
2) in Finnish language the word armeija, Army, often means the entire Defence Forces, where as Army per se is called maavoimat, Land Forces. The Finnish "army" is divided into three sections: Land, Sea and Air Forces perspectively. The word laivasto, Navy, only appears as a sub-section of "Sea Forces", meaning the people actually serving as ship crews. And since Finland has a quite modest Navy, the word hasn't really "catched on".

He's basically a Seabee interms of how he operates in that he's Navy, but he really operates mostly on land.Kashluk wrote:Yup. Amis is/was/would be a part of Navy or Marines organization-wise in English terms, but in Finnish terms he has nothing to do with Navy
