Fallout 3. Brace for impact.
GREED!
<blockquote>"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good..."
-- Gordon Gekko, Wall Street, 1987</blockquote>
In Todd's video interview, did anyone else notice how the his personality reflects the in-your-face, commercialist spirit of his games when he cites the fictitious Capitalism incarnate himself:
".../ for lack of a better word, it is a lot more emotionally engaging to ... look at the guys expression right before you shoot him"
Indeed, his games will hit players and fans (I have not even seen the game yet, and I am struck by it already!) not only on a different emotional level, but, on a subconscious level, Todd is alluding to viewers that customers will also feel this game on an economical level when fanbois and console kiddies need to buy their <strike>horse</strike> dog armour.
Am I reading too much into this or is Todd modeling himself after the infamous cut-throat businessman that is Gordon?

I don't think Todd tells the truth, though. I can see it in his face and in his bodylanguage... He feels sort of sad.... He feels and hears and speaks likesome who has gotten bullet points from the PR department when he was to give this interview.
Remember most games these days are run by the PR and Marketing deparment to see if they will sell. And does the PR and Marketing department do: Look at other Post Apoc Games, and then they see:
Oh, gears sold nicely, as did prey as did resistance: fall of man (if it did??) and then hey say: make it something like gears of war/resistance: fall of man, then it'll sell well.
Maybe it will, but the PR and Marketing department forgets that today games need to be unique, to have something SPECIAL about them to be noticed, not just be some kind of generic post apoc (fantasy game. Todd H. wanted to make a game, that was as SPECIAL and unique as the first two Fallouts games, maybe with some TB combat or even CTB ombat still in. But is got stopped by the marketing and PR-department, simply because they said 'sorry, no sales there', so RT etc. blah. blah. etc.'
Then the PR department got scared when they saw the polls at the BGSF (or tes) boards/forums and told people to come up with a way to implement a sort of TB combat which it really isn't and a sort of combat in realtime, so both fangroups will be happy. Now, I'm afraid, neither one them will be happy...
Of course, this is all guesses on my part...
I have made several posts on BGSF's forums where I've talked about the combat in Gears of
War, but I didn't mean for Bethsoft to implement the combat in Fallout 3. I hav also talked about aimed shot being dependent on your PErception skill, and I did mean that they should implement this feature. But I'd guess, they chose, sadly , to go with with the first option .

Second Q+A, TH appeared to have paper laying on folded leg.
Scripted bullet points or fan mail?
Tired executive , railroaded to role playing,or PR + media anointed - successful game dev, rock star, generating content for exclusive brand ambassadors?
Paper?
Cue card, script, love letter, or laundry list?

Relentless pessimism has always been much less popular than relentless optimism. Here at Duck and Cover the glass isn't just half-empty, it's been shattered and the pieces have been stuck into your eye.senisterdenister wrote:I watched those videos on Youtube and the only things I could think besides how could a man live to be as old as Howard without his balls dropping any is why people seem to hate the Fallout community as much as they do.
Did Todd and Istvan actually say anything? All I heard was "We love the original Fallouts and our game will be great." Miller's responses, on the other hand, tell the exact opposite story.
My initial optimism is rapidly fading.

hey that's the game I've been thinking of lately. Like 'hey it's a TB-RPG by an ex-Troiker, wonder how it'll turn out' sort of thinking.DaC-Sniper wrote:Dropship.
