'hate' is a pretty good comic. so is shrimpy, paul & friends.

but that may not be exactly what you're looking for? :chew:
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Some funky stuff:
Preacher and, well, pretty much everything that has "Garth Ennis" on the cover
Transmetropolitan and Ellis' various mini-series (especially Ruins)
The Filth
Druuna - An unintentionally hilarious erotic French comic. It's set on this gargantuan spaceship where the central computer has gone haywire and turned parts of the ship into a post-apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by all kinds of horrible monsters. Wackiness ensues.
Adventures of the Rifle Brigade and AotRB: Operation Bollock - Total
Hellblazer - Start out with the stuff by Ennis, Carey, and Azzarello.
Cerebus the Aardvark - Don't listen to Spazmo, Cerebus is as B) as it gets
Alan Moore's stuff (Watchmen, From Hell, V for Vendetta.. all that jazz)
Flaming Carrot
Slaine and DR & Quinch from 2000AD - Can be somewhat hard to track down. You'll probably have to get the individual progs if you don't find a compilation torrent or something.
Oink - Heaven's Butcher
The Walking Dead - Pretty funky B/W zombie comic. Turns into a soap opera after a while.
Y - The Last Man
Hitman - Worth reading for Bueno Excellente alone.

All the stuff nico said is pretty darn dope. I'd probably read it in chronological order though, as Watchmen is probably better than V for Vendetta, though V is good.

The Filth is probably a better primer.

Seven Soldiers? Y:The Last Man? I only read the first few of those but it seemed good enough. If you like Batman, year one and dark night returns of course!!!

I enjoyed the Wolverine comics from the 90s. They didn't get really good until after his adamantium was torn out Magneto, then turned to shit when Apocalypse gave it back. Something about those bone claws is fucking awesome.

Aside from that, I'm totally out of touch with the comic book world.

Cerebus is the shit. As well as anything from Alan Moore or Frank Miller.

Haven't been able to stomach any Marvel comics since I was a pre-teen.

Any of you buttholes ever read Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters? Was thinking of picking up the graphic novel but have never read any Green Arrow before and wasn't sure how they were. Also, what are some essential GNs I need to read? I've Read Miller's 300, Sin City and Batman books as well as Ghost in the Shell and a few assorted others but that is about it. Gracias.

Get Moore's run of Swamp Thing, rip some bong hits, and turn on some Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Not a big comic fan. The Hellboy books are incredible though. Mignola is in a league of his own.

Demonoid hosts a torrent that has almost every issue of Heavy Metal magazine, going back to the early 80's, apparently. Huge file, but those comics rule.

Thanks guys! I got a lot more replies than I expected. I'll chew through a couple of Preachers first and then continue with the rest.

Cheers!

By the way, do you guys know any place where I could find those Vampire Batman comics (torrent)? Batman: Red Rain, Bloodstorm, Crimson Mist etc. etc. I read one as a kid and I loved it... I was hoping if I could get my hands on 'em again.
