fast CPU = problems?

If you can't get the Fallout games to run the way you want, or are having trouble with bugs, here's the place to ask for help.

fast CPU = problems?

Post by PiP »

I'm currently playing F2 on a rig with a CPU running at about 2GHz;
Am I gonna have problems or miss something? Less frequent random encounters maybe? I haven't yet noticed any real difference from when I played the game on Celeron 366 and Athlon 1700, 'cept travelling on world map is damn fast. So does it actually affect anything of importance, and if yes, is there a way to fix it?

There used to be a "picture of the week" with Fallout played in window mode - how do I get this and can I adjust the speed of the game then?

You can try looking on google for encounter booster for fallout 2. It wont slow your pc down but it will incrase % chance of getting encounter.

well yeah but I'd be running the risk of getting more encounters than I should, if the CPU speed isn't dcreasing their frequency already.
Thanks for replies anyway. And yeah, I downloaded dosbox right after posting this topic.

Dosbox is the answer to 90% of your old PC game problems. :)

It's all in the setup. ;)

It does take a bit of fiddling to get each game running smooth.

Eh..DosBox runs DOS games...FO2 is Win95, right?I'm probably mistaken. I'm cool with that.
