I suppose it's going to be an AGP-card, right? X800 Pro and 6800 GT cost pretty much the same and I've heard more good about this new 6800-series, so I could recommend that.
On the other hand, if you were getting a PCI-Express-card, I'd have to suggest the X800 XT, which pretty much PWNZ.
I've got personal experience on Riva TNT2, GeForce2, Geforce4 and X800 XT myself and the only one I've been disappointed in is the GF2-card. NVidia's done pretty well for me.

If you're not stupid, any card worth 300$+ will be fine. There's only wacky people to have problems running a game with a Radeon 9800. Either that or you have some really shitty underground hardware.
Nvidia tends to be the one with fewer hassles. Raedon seems to prefer churning out more kinds of cards. It seems to be more like a question similar to the Pentium vs Athlon debate.
Just a thought....
Windows XP:
Yet another example of how pussies get screwed.
Radeon cards also come with HL2...At least they did last year... I've got my little sticker to send in to get that fucking game when it comes out, at least.

Actually most people don't seem to be able to use that coupon... some say it's a scam =/
Yeah, like I have a PowerColor Radeon 9600. She does me well enough for games like Doom 3, and Half-Life 2, which I am currently installing as we speak.
