Since Bethesda decided to make Fallout 3, we figured we might as well have a forum about it.

Q & A with Bethesda..The Real Deal

Bethamon: First of all let me tell you all that were are really fired up about our soon to be released Fallout 3 game.

Gamespud: So what’s up with Fallout3

Bethamon. After extensive research we found that members of the Fallout fan base demanded fundamental changes in the game. First off, the fans have demanded overwhelmingly a change from the old Fallout isometric view to the more exciting first person view. We think that this will add to the excitement of the game and bring it up to speed technologically. Listen to the fans is our motto!

Gamespud: Great, what’s next?

Bethamon: Among other things we also found that the Fallout fans hated the tired old turn based combat system and all along yearned for a real time combat system. Also character development under the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system was problematic at best, so we have completely automated the character creation and development processes. This eliminate the old clunky and agonizing procedures the fans were forced to endure in Fallout 1 & 2. In place of that we have a wide selection of prefabricated characters that the users can rename, and configure a little as they see fit. With those improvements you can expect a player to develop a high degree of character identification and hence Immersion.

Gamespud: That’s great what else can we expect?

Bethamon. You can expect new and exciting character professions. The Character professions will be Fighter, Healer, Psionics Master, Mentalist, Faith Healer, Techno-Magician, Ranger, Raider, Trader, and Tone Master. The Psionics Master, Mentalist, and Faith Healer, professions were included in the mix because the Fallout fan base demanded that we implement something that is anagalous to the exciting magic system we implemented in the Elder Scrolls. Hey who says radiation wouldn’t cause brain mutations anyway, besides that Fallout 2 touched on wasteland magic users with the ‘Master’ who was essentially a Psionics Master.

Gamespud: Will you be using a new game engine?

Bethamon: Yes we have developed a new common 3D engine that will take all of our RPG’s to the next level. Our new games will run wonderfully on The PS2, Xbox, and oh ya there will be a PC version as well.

Gamespud: Well I say that you seem to be on top of it thanks for your time.
