Should DAC forums remain closed to visitors?

Make dumb suggestions so we can ignore them. I'm lovin' it.

Should DAC forums remain closed to visitors?

Post by Mr. Teatime »

Ok, at the moment the vast majorty of the forums, guests can see but cannot browse (requires a log in). I think guests can look at the 'in the news' forum, and the fallout ones, and that's it. What does everyone think - should we keep it this way, or allow guests to view all, or more, of the forums?

I think that it's best to keep it like this.

On the one hand I agree, but on the other, we would get a lot more traffic I think if people could read the forums.
Though we do tend to have quite a few registered members browsing at any one time - usually about double that of NMA, for instance. THey just have a load of guests on their forums.

If I had been a guest, I'd go "top sekrit forums? KRAZY!" and then register to check it out. So.. I dunno.

Keep it the way it is. It keeps out (most) of the riffraff. Janus and Fallout Ranger being the exception.

I don't really see a problem with Guests being allowed to browse the forums, long as they have to register in order to post.

Also, sometimes I like to browse forums from a computer that's not my own, when I only have time to read (and not post). In which case I don't like to login, so threads won't be marked 'read' when I come back later with time to post. For obvious reasons, I can't do this with Duck and Cover.

Not exactly an important issue though, I'll be just as satisfied either way.

Guests should be allowed to read everything but post nothing.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

I think it works fine this way. Besides, you won't get to TEH WATSELAND without being a golden member. I think that alone is worth this system of sekrit conspiracies.

If anyone cares, I've changed it so guests can view and read all forums, apart from the three 'special' forums: The Wasteland, Asshats and Feelings Online. Those forums, the guests can see are there, but they can't open them to view any of the threads.
This way, guests get access to news/general discussion, but they only get a tantalising glimpse at some of DAC's unique features.

Well, that's acceptable.

But have you noticed that always when you post polls and ask for advice, you never follow it?

ELITIST BASTARDS UNITE!... oh ... wait. NMA has that covered.

Well, personally I like it so guests can't read, they have to register first. But, I suppose, as long as guest posting is disabled, it's all dandy.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!
