About combat
About combat
Well, I had a thought. it may have been suggested before. I'm not sure. But, since most publishers seem to be stuck with their heads up eachother asses, and thus refusing to be different from eachother. No wonder most games turn out crap nowadays.
So, in my mind publisher is forever synonymous with retard.. Or maybe marketing.
aye.
So, I was thinking about what I could accept.
Other that Turnbased combat.
And, even though tb is the only thing I'd really like. I came up with one thing that, if implemented correctly, just might work.
But probably not.
As stated earlier, it may have been suggested before.
Suppose that you used pause.
And during the pause you gave your character orders, primary, secondary and tertiary.
like,
primary: move to x,y.
secondary: lay down supressing fire.
tertiary: none
With this, as soon as you unpause, your char will walk backwards to this spot you chose, probably a place wih cover, while shooting too keep them enemies calm.
Then, as you are there (Behind cover) your commands could be:
primary: move left (out of cover)
secondary: shoot at closest
tertiary: move left (into cover)
just a thought.
I'd still preffer tb.

Making a RT combat system that would have flexibility like that is probably more trouble than it's worth. I would like to see a scripted-style combat but every way I imagine would make it more ungainly than TB combat. Granted many of the TB combat situations in Fallout were just simple un-inspiring fuck-fests but I think if we are able to put a man on the moon 35 years ago we should be able to make a satisfying and strategic combat system which should make anyone happy in today's world.
Strategic combat should never be about perfect timing or the speed with the mouse button!

if so, he's a pee-face.Briosafreak wrote:We don`t know that, maybe it`s just his personal views...
he can't bloody say such things without meaning them, now can he?
that would just be plain evil.
and well, no. He seem to be more of a fondler than evil.
so I choose to believe him.... until further facts are revealed...
EDIT:
and now further facts have been revealed.
I suppose one shouldn't be too suprised.
