Yeah DOOM III is obviously a step above all games listed. I mean I've never seen a game that's main focus is just killing hoards of uninventive aliens while fighting for numerous key cards!

Well at least Doom's honest about it. The developers admit that the whole game is just about adrenaline pumping, no fancy stories. Many other first-person shooters have tried to have some kind of a complex and surprising story, but many times it just falls down to the background while killing hordes of aliens and hunting key cards becomes more relevant.

no, doom has ugly blue textures like quake had ugly brown textures, the shadows are really sharp and the models look retarded. Far Cry looks better.
